Twelve guests in five cabins is dense for thirty-five metres, and it is the first thing to understand about Adva. Most yachts of this length carry ten across five. She carries twelve, which means at least one cabin sleeps more than two, and that is not an accident of layout but a statement of purpose.

She is the right answer when the group is the point. Not five couples keeping to themselves, but a party that travels together and expects to be in the same place: friends, cousins, a group that has done this before and would rather add two people than take a second boat.

The toy garage comes out loaded. Jet skis, a sailing dinghy, paddleboards. That inventory tells you how the days are meant to go — not a slow procession between restaurants, but a boat that stops somewhere and empties into the water for three hours.

The bathing platform is wide, which is the piece that makes the rest work. Toys need somewhere to be launched from and returned to, and wet people need somewhere to arrive that is not a passerelle. A wide platform turns the stern into the busiest part of the yacht, and keeps the busiest part outside.

Seven crew for twelve guests. On a yacht run this way that number is spent on movement: tenders and toys in and out, meals that shift between decks, and a stern that has to be reset several times a day. It is a working complement rather than a formal one.

The hull is grey. It reads as a small thing and is not: a dark hull on a thirty-five-metre Benetti places her visually closer to the newer generation of yachts than to the white fleet she sits among, and the yard chose it deliberately.

Five cabins for twelve is also a practical arrangement rather than a compromise. The cabin that sleeps more than two is the one that suits children, or the pair of friends who do not mind sharing, and the other four stay conventional doubles. Nobody is asked to make an unusual choice.
