Rocket One
Six cabins in thirty-seven metres
Aboard Rocket One
Six guest cabins in thirty-seven metres one. That is a great deal of accommodation for the length, and it is the whole reason to look at her: twelve guests aboard a yacht that would ordinarily carry eight or ten, which changes what a charter costs per person to arrange.
The layout suits two or three families sharing. Six cabins means each household gets its own doors rather than being distributed among a corridor, and twelve people who know each other use a yacht like this far better than twelve people who have been introduced at the passerelle.
The beam is generous for the length, and it shows up in the main saloon. A wide hull gives a room you can put twelve people in without anybody sitting behind anybody, which on a yacht where the guest list is at full capacity is the difference between comfortable and merely possible.
Seven crew for twelve guests. That is a working complement for this size and it is honest to describe it as such: enough to run the yacht, the meals and the tenders properly, without the near one-to-one service of a fifty-metre boat carrying the same number.
She was delivered by Gulf Craft in 2009. The yard builds in volume and builds for heat, which on a Mediterranean summer charter is a more relevant qualification than it sounds: the air conditioning, the shade and the deck layout come from a builder whose home water is hotter than this one.
Twelve guests on thirty-seven metres is a full boat and that should be said plainly. The deck is used intensively, the saloon is the centre of the day, and the yacht works best on an itinerary with movement and swimming rather than long afternoons where everyone stays aboard.
She is available across the Mediterranean, which gives a large group flexibility on where to start. For a family group taking the whole yacht, the ability to pick the coast is worth as much as any single feature on the specification.
She is the practical choice for twelve. Not the largest yacht here, and the one where the accommodation, the crew and the length are arranged for a group that actually is twelve rather than a group that could be.
