Cyprus · Eastern Mediterranean
Cyprus, the Akamas and the south coast
Seven nights from Limassol — the Akamas peninsula, the Blue Lagoon at Latchi and Cape Greco, in a season that runs March to November.
7 nights · Round trip from Limassol
The eastern edge of the Mediterranean, and the ground with the longest season in it: the water is swimmable from March to November, which makes Cyprus the answer when the dates are outside everyone else's summer. The coast is quieter than the Aegean and the archaeology is unusually intact.
The route, day by day
Day 1
Limassol
Board and run west along the coast, past the Kourion amphitheatre standing on the cliff above the sea, to Pissouri for the first night.
Day 2
Petra tou Romiou
The sea stacks where Aphrodite is said to have come ashore, and an anchorage below them. Pafos harbour is an hour on, with the Roman mosaics behind it.
Day 3
Latchi
North to the Akamas. The Blue Lagoon here is the reason boats come — shallow, sheltered, and the water genuinely the colour of the name.
Day 4
Akamas peninsula
A national park with no road through it: turtle beaches at Lara, sea caves, and a coastline that has been left alone.
Day 5
Pafos
Back south with a night in the harbour, and the Tombs of the Kings and the mosaics of the House of Dionysus within walking distance of the boat.
Day 6
Cape Greco
The long run east past Limassol to the sea caves and arches at the island's south-east corner, with Konnos Bay below them.
Day 7
Limassol
West again along the coast, with a last anchorage at Governor's Beach before disembarking.
Worth knowing
- No yacht is based in Cyprus: what sails here is positioned from the eastern Mediterranean, so book earlier
- The season runs March to November, which is longer than anywhere else in this fleet's range
- Larnaca and Pafos airports both serve the coast; Limassol sits between them
- The Akamas is a national park — anchoring and access are regulated and the crew hold the detail
- Cape Greco and back is the longest leg of the week and is planned around the forecast
