Yacht Charter Barcelona
A Mediterranean capital with Gaudí above the waterline and the Costa Brava an afternoon north.
Barcelona is the only city on this coast where the marina is a fifteen-minute walk from a UNESCO-listed cathedral that is still being built. Port Vell sits at the foot of the Ramblas, the beach runs four kilometres north-east from it, and the whole of the Costa Brava — coves, pine and red rock — begins about three hours up the coast.
The city from the water
Port Vell is in the middle of the city, which is unusual and useful: from the passerelle it is fifteen minutes on foot to the Gothic Quarter and thirty to the Sagrada Família. The old harbour was cleared and rebuilt for the 1992 Olympics, and the city turned to face the sea for the first time in its history.
Gaudí is the reason most people come, and the buildings reward the effort of booking ahead: the Sagrada Família, Park Güell, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera are all within half an hour of the berth.
North to the Costa Brava
Three hours up the coast the shoreline turns to red rock, pine and small coves — Palamós, Calella de Palafrugell, Cadaqués — and it is a different Spain from the city entirely.
Cadaqués, near the French border, is where Dalí lived; the house at Portlligat next to it is kept as it was and can be visited by booking. The Cap de Creus behind is the easternmost point of mainland Spain and a national park.
