Yacht Charter Porto Rotondo
A planned village of granite and bougainvillea round a natural harbour, twenty minutes from Olbia.
Porto Rotondo was laid out in the 1960s by two Venetian brothers who bought the headland and built a village on it in local granite, with a small amphitheatre and a church whose interior is entirely carved olive wood. It is calmer than Porto Cervo, closer to Olbia, and the harbour takes real boats.
The village and the harbour
Piazza San Marco at the centre is an open square that fills in the evening, and the lanes around it are stone and bougainvillea rather than concrete. The church of San Lorenzo holds five hundred carved olive-wood figures by Mario Ceroli, which is not what anyone expects to find here.
The marina sits in a natural inlet, well sheltered and twenty minutes by road from Olbia airport — the shortest transfer on the Costa Smeralda.
What is within half an hour
Punta Volpe and Marinella are round the headland, and the Golfo Aranci beaches — Cala Moresca, Cala Sabina — are twenty minutes north with granite and clear shallow water.
The Maddalena archipelago is an hour and a half further on, which puts Porto Rotondo at a comfortable first or last night of a Sardinian week.
