Salerno is where most of our charters begin, and the reason is practical rather than scenic: it has a real marina, straightforward provisioning, a mainline station and a motorway junction twenty minutes away. When a party is arriving from three different airports, that matters more than the view from the quay.
Why start here
The Amalfi Coast begins immediately west — Vietri, then Amalfi within the hour. The Cilento and its national park run south. Capri is a comfortable morning away.
Provisioning in Salerno is easier and better than anywhere else on this coast, which matters for a week aboard far more than most guests expect before they have done one.

A table by the water
Cetara
CetaraA working anchovy port fifteen minutes along the coast. Colatura di alici is made here and nowhere else, and the tavernas serve it plainly.

What to do
Anchorages & excursions
Erchie
A pocket of sand between two headlands with a Norman tower above it and no road down worth using. Anchor off and swim in.
Cetara at dusk
The fleet goes out at night for anchovies and the harbour empties. It is the least performed evening on this coast.
Paestum
Three Greek temples in a field forty minutes south, better preserved than anything in Greece and visited by a fraction of the people.
The Amalfi run
Salerno to Amalfi is under an hour, which is why the fleet sits here rather than in the pretty harbour it serves.

- Why do charters leave from Salerno rather than Amalfi or Positano?
- Access and space. Salerno has a proper marina, road and rail links and real provisioning; Amalfi and Positano are more beautiful but have very limited berthing, particularly for larger yachts.
- How long from Salerno to Capri by yacht?
- About two hours on a motor yacht. Many day charters from Salerno stay on the Amalfi Coast instead and leave Capri for a longer trip.
